Interview with Author Kelli Green

Let us know a little about yourself and how we can connect with you via website, blog, books, and social media sites.

My name is Kelli Green and I’m a writer. My main passion is for fiction writing, but I also like to write non-fiction pieces. I’ve been trying to step outside of my comfort zones and write more blog posts. I’ve been working on my website a lot more recently. My website is, Greenscenespirit.com. I currently have one book called, May and one short story called, Elizabeth available on Amazon.  https://www.amazon.com/Kelli-Green/e/B085KWMRT4?ref_=dbs_p_ebk_r00_abau_000000

You can also find me on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook: @keloggs8495plus You can definitely get in touch with me on twitter or insta. I’m very active.

What is the name of your blog or book and how did you get started?

The name of my book is, May. May is my first novel and I’d been playing with ideas for almost a decade before I really sat down and wrote something solid. I’ve always loved storytelling and I really took the idea of “write the stories you want to read” to heart.

What is your favorite thing about being a blogger, writer, or author?

My favorite thing about being an author is that it is all up to me. I get to give a voice to the swarming thoughts in my head; and there is nothing cooler than getting to see/hear people discussing my work. It’s like finally letting someone into my little world that I created.

What is your favorite movie that was based off a book?

My favorite movie based off of a book is Fried Green Tomatoes, hands down. That book, written by Fannie Flagg, is definitely the most influential works of fiction that I have ever read. I saw the movie first and loved every minute of it; still do. But when I got my hands on that book I was in awe. I had never read anything like it. Flagg treated just about every character with so much love and care. They were all so real. This favorite is closely followed by, The Color Purple by Alice Walker. Again, I was simply amazed by the care Walker took with creating her characters.

What projects are you working on right now?

Right now I am working on continuing my series. I am getting started on a sequel to May and working on some short stories for my series as well. My mind is always racing. The problem is putting it down on paper.

Thank you Kelli for such a great interview! Be sure to connect with her on her social media sites and check out her books on Amazon!

Interview with Blogger and Novelist Cole

Let us know a little about yourself and how we can connect with you via website, blog, books, and social media sites.

I’m nearly 30 and I live in England! When I’m not bumbling about on the internet, I’m an English teacher for teenagers. In addition to writing and reading, I’m also very interested in video games, baking, cats, and comics.
I am currently working on a couple of historical LGBTQ+ novels and I also write poetry.
My blog is at http://www.lordcoledemort.com and I’m on Twitter @/lordcoledemort

What is your favorite food?

I absolutely adore lasagna, and I could definitely eat it every single day. I’m trying to eat less meat, so I’m into vegetarian lasagna at the minute.

If you could learn how to make any food what would it be?

I’m a fairly chaotic baker, so I’d really like to learn how to make cakes and sweet things in the kitchen without causing total carnage. The last cake I made collapsed, so it’s clearly not something I’m good at!

What is your favorite genre to read?

I am obsessed with historical romance- Julia Quinn is a real favorite of mine. There’s something so comforting and fluffy about sinking into these stories.

What is your favorite movie that was based off a book?

Probably The Princess Bride! I love the characters and it’s so funny. The book is brilliant, too, but I think I might actually prefer the film (which is a bad writer thing to say)!

What are you reading right now?

I’m reading the second Nevermoor book- Wundersmith: The Calling of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend, which is a lovely Young Adult light fantasy with big Harry Potter vibes. I’m really enjoying it.

What projects are you working on right now?

I’ve got two novels I’m working on, and I’m editing a third; I am not sure what I’m going to do with them when they’re done! I’m also writing poems and considering starting a short story project.

Thank you Cole for such a great interview. Be sure to check out her blog and Twitter page to see more!

Blogger Spotlight- Interview with Blogger Abhi Tanwar

Let us know a little about yourself and how we can connect with you via the website, blog, books, and social media sites.

I am Abhinav from India, I started blogging a few weeks before. I was having an interest in writing from the last few years but I was not having time to write. Due to the coronavirus, I was free most of the time so I started blogging which helped me learn many things. To know more about me you can contact me through

What is your favourite thing about being a blogger, writer, or author?

According to me being a blogger is the best thing I have done. Discovering new things, writing about that made me learn many new things. Whenever I am free instead of wasting my time I discover new things which give me the knowledge and after knowing about that topic I write a blog so that others can also know about it.

What advice do you have for new writers just starting out?

As I am also a new blogger, I also face many problems. I get upset when I don’t get traffic on my website. But this encourages me to write more and to provide viewers with the best content. You must find on which niche you have an interest and write on that only. Just try to provide viewers with the best quality of content. Before writing on any topic you must critically analyze the content. (This advice was given to me also and this helped me a lot).

Use social media to share your content. Never become discouraged if you are not getting viewers. And last but not least, never run after money until and unless you are going to provide unique and quality content you are not going to earn. You can visit here to know the success story of Elon Musk (His story inspired me a lot) https://tanwarboyabhi.blogspot.com/2020/08/Elon-musk.html, You can learn many things from his life, I am sure this would help you.

If you could have superpowers what would they be?

In this lockdown, I understood that discovering new things is the best thing you can do. So I wish of having a superpower which can help me to read and write faster. This will help me.. to grab more knowledge in less time.

What helps you to stay motivated and keep writing?

Whenever I write on any topic I search about that on google and I use to see the first five websites and try to write better than them. Seeing their article motivates me to try to write better. Other times I use to watch successful bloggers video which also motivates me.

How do you attract new readers?

There are many ways to attract people. People will visit your website if you are giving them the content that they want. If we write on a topic which can help viewers then they will visit your website. You can use social media sites to attract people. Try to use a catchy title, most of the people visit your website by just seeing your title. If your title is attractive then they will visit. Attach images in your article, this will develop an interest in viewers. You can also use ads to advertise and attract viewers.
7-What does success look like to you? Everybody has a different meaning for success. For me, If you know how to walk with joy through hell then you are successful.

Thank you Abhi for a great interview!

Blogger Spotlight-Interview with Food and Garden Blogger Becky Tiffany

Let us know a little about yourself and how we can connect with you via website, blog, books, and social media sites.

Hi! My name is Becky and you can find me over at SunnyFarmhouse on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/sunnyfarmhouse/ or my blog at www.sunnyharmhouse.com.  I have been on Instagram for a little while sharing food and gardening ideas. My website is brand new so I am still trying to make it what I envision. I’m learning and hope to have a fun place to keep track of my favorite recipes.

What is your favorite comfort food?

I am mostly a vegetarian and I try to eat “clean” and plant-based as much as possible. I also love to bake desserts for my family!

What is your favorite food?

My favorite food is most definitely pizza. As a family, we make a wood-fired pizza in our backyard on Sunday nights. Making pizza and baking 1-2 at a time is a great way to extend family dinner time on Sundays. Plus it forces the kids to sit and socialize!

If you could learn how to make any food what would it be?

We are always trying & testing all things pizza but I would love to perfect several styles of pizza!  I have 5 kids so I’m always receiving requests for various toppings and flavors of pizza … Thai with peanut sauce, mushroom, Margarita, tostada, pepperoni, etc, etc, etc.

What projects are you working on right now?

Every year I like to set a cooking goal for myself. It forces me to stretch, learn, try new things, and step out of my comfort zone.  My goal for 2018 was to make pizza every week.  In 2019, I made a pie each month.  For 2020, I am working on all things sourdough. It’s amazing how comfortable you can become with a new technique. Likewise, when you set a goal to work on it throughout the year.

Any other information you would like to include to our readers?

I hope you’ll stop by to visit me on my website & Instagram account.  If you do, send me a quick hello!  Happy cooking!!

Thank you Becky for a lovely interview!

Blogger Spotlight-Interview with Food and Lifestyle Blogger Kait Ruben

Tell us about yourself and how we can connect with you.

I’m Kait Rubin, and I run the blog slumberandscones.com, which is a food and lifestyle blog focused on baking, brunch, cocktails, home, and hosting. I’m pretty active on Twitter (@slumberscones) and Pinterest (pinterest.com/kaitrubin). But you can also find my blog on Facebook (facebook.com/slumberandscones) and Instagram (@slumberandscones), with a bit less activity.

What is the name of your blog or book and how did you get started?

Slumber & Scones is my blog, which is kind of a play on bed & breakfast, since I write about food and hosting. I feel like I’ve been blogging in some fashion forever! But I only started S&S a couple years ago. Previously, I ran a blog with my sister called Girls Are Geeks, where we posted about the cross-over of geeky and girly topics. My favorite posts to write were the ones about the themed drinks and desserts we made, so I spun off to focus on just that aspect.

What is your favorite food?

I tend to crave fresh fruits and vegetables, especially in the winter when it’s harder to find really delicious ones. I’m also a chocolate lover and often reach for a piece when I’ve had a stressful day or need a pick-me-up.

What foods do you crave all the time?

Bread! I love any type of bread really. My absolute favorite is a warm piece of challah with homemade butter, but honestly any will do.

What is your favorite comfort food?

I’m pretty sure there’s nothing that a chocolate cupcake with vanilla buttercream frosting can’t cure!

If you could learn how to make any food what would it be?

I’d love to learn how to make cheese. I’ve made ricotta a couple times, which is fairly simple, but I’d love to expand into more complicated cheeses like mozzarella and burrata. Maybe one day I’ll even be able to make harder cheeses like cheddar and parmesan.

What is your favorite thing about being a blogger, writer, or author?

I absolutely love the community of writers and bloggers online. Everyone is so creative in their own way, and it’s incredible to see the amount of support we all have for each other. There really is a “rising tide lifts all boats” mentality, that’s hard to find in other places.

What advice do you have for new writers just starting out?

Just write things down. One-liners, quotes, dialogues in your head. I always get these thoughts in my head and they would quickly disappear if I didn’t jot them down. You never know when something will be relevant and useful.

What do you like to do for fun?

I like watching sports, mostly hockey (go Devils!) and college gymnastics. In addition, I have two chihuahuas that are perfectly cuddly and adorable, so I often spend time with them. I go through phases where I love building and decorating houses in The Sims. And I really like reading cookbooks like they are novels.

What helps you to stay motivated and keep writing?

I like baking and mixing up drinks that I’m not going to publish on my blog, to remind myself why I love it. I know that sounds counterproductive, but it helps me get my head back into producing content. Not everything in life needs to be blog content, and reminding myself of that makes it easier to create when I need to.

How do you attract new readers?

I love creating new pins for Pinterest. Each of my posts probably has 8-12 different pins, and I’ve started seeing those bringing in some traffic. I also have recently learned about SEO, which can draw readers to my blog from Google. Then I hope my bright colors, fun recipes, and thoughtful content keep them around!

What has influenced you the most as a writer?

The old style of blogging, back in the early 2000s, when everything was about storytelling, and capturing moments in words – that really stuck with me. I have seen the trends for bloggers shifting a lot toward being informative, and removing that personal touch, but to me that’s what makes a blog worth reading. I want to really get to the know the person writing, and so I try to always interject my personality into my own content as well.

What is your favorite genre to read?

Outside of cookbooks, I really love contemporary young/new adult fiction, psychological thrillers, and non-fiction books about neuroscience and psychology.

What are you reading right now?

I’m trying to read House of Leaves by Mark Z Danielewski, for maybe the fourth time. I’ve gotten further than ever before, but it can be a tough book to read. My goal is to finish it this time! I’m also reading my way through Smoke, Roots, Mountain, Harvest by Lauren McDuffie, it’s a cookbook filled with intriguing stories about growing up in Appalachia.

What is something about yourself most people don’t know?

I tend to be pretty open about myself, but most people might not realize that I totally have an addiction to skincare products and beauty boxes! I just love them!

What kind of music do you like to listen to?

On my own, I like listening to classic rock, alternative, and indie music, but I have a soft spot for nostalgic pop as well. I really love making playlists for parties and events, pulling together songs that make me go “oh I haven’t heard this in forever!”

If you could live in any book what would it be?

Can it be a cookbook? But actually, it would probably be any of those chick-lit books where a woman goes off and inherits or buys property in a small town, and makes her life there as an inn-owner and pillar of the community. I always romanticize that sort of thing.

Who are your top three favorite authors?

Oh gosh, that’s really tough! Of all time, I’d probably say Douglas Adams, because Hitchhiker’s guide is just such a classic; Sarah Dessen as a throwback YA author, because I always loved the characters in her books and how their worlds subtly intertwined, and Malcolm Gladwell for his psychology books.

Do you have any blogs or books you can recommend?

In the food world, I love Joy the Baker’s blog (http://joythebaker.com/) and all of her cookbooks. Outside of that, a nostalgic favorite series of mine is the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella.

If you could have superpowers what would they be?

Teleportation! I love visiting new places, but I am a horrible traveler. If I could skip all flying, I’d love to see the world.

What is a typical day of writing look like for you?

I have a full time day job, so most of the time I spend on my blog is on evenings or weekends. I work in unstructured blocks, where I’ll get a bunch done and then take a break to do something entirely unrelated. But I also always have my phone with me to jot down ideas when they come to me.

What is your favorite movie that was based on a book?

I’m usually a book over movie person, I’ll admit, but The Princess Bride could not have been any better. I watched the movie recently and it still stands up years later!

What projects are you working on right now?

I always have a novel in progress, and maybe one day I’ll finish it. Right now, my big project is focusing on Slumber & Scones, and allowing that blog the chance to flourish. I’d love to be able to focus on that full time, and have more time for additional hobbies and projects.

Any other information you would like to include to our readers?

I just want to say that it’s okay to be yourself, and not to feel guilty about it. I spent a lot of time doing that when I was younger, and letting it go made my life a lot easier. Take critiques in stride, but brush off criticism. You don’t need to make everyone happy all the time.

Thank you Kait for such a great interview!

What advice do you have for new writers just starting out?

As a new blogger, I would definitely say have fun and be yourself. Create your blog for you and let your personality shine through. Don’t worry about things like making money or self-hosting straight away, just concentrate on the writing. Also, don’t compare your successes to other people’s – just do you very best and above all, enjoy the journey!

What do you like to do for fun?

There are so many subjects that motivate me to write, and as soon as inspiration hits I just make a note of it. So I’ve got an ever-growing list of blog topics, and when I come to think about writing a new blog, I just scroll the list and get excited all over again!

How do you attract new readers?

This is something that I am still learning as a new blogger, however, Twitter and Instagram have been great so far, enabling me to share blog posts and gain followers from a wider audience. I also try to regularly update my website to make it as up to date and user friendly as possible.

Who are your top three favorite authors?

Sophie Kinsella (writes a great chick-lit), Ian McEwan, and Adam Kay (I’ve never laughed and cried so much as reading This is Going to Hurt: Secret Diaries of a Junior Doctor).

Do you have any blogs or books you can recommend?

As mentioned above, I would highly recommend Adam Kay’s books about life as a Junior Doctor. They are written as a series of diary entries and just make you feel every emotion possible! I’m still discovering which blogs I like, but have always been a fan of Rosie Bea, who both vlogs on Youtube and blogs about her beautiful clothes designs.

If you could have superpowers what would they be?

To restore the climate and eradicate disease.

What does a typical day of writing look like for you?

At the moment during the lockdown, I get up early, have breakfast, set the children their work for the day, check my little list of blogging subjects and just start typing and see where it takes me! I also try to network with other bloggers as much as I can via social media and upload a snap or two to my Instagram page.

Blogger Spotlight- Interview with Food Blogger Penny Johnson

Tell us about yourself and how we can connect with you.

What is the name of your blog or book and how did you get started?

My blog is Penny’s Food Blog, so original I know.  The blog started because people were always asking me for recipes. I always typed them up and then my husband suggested that I start a blog. Now I have a place for people to find all my recipes.  I didn’t know anything about blogging. My husband researched and found Word Press which provided a pretty simple way for me to blog.  I used my name so that my friends could find it easily.  I think I would have come up with a more creative name if I’d known how long I would be blogging for and how many people would follow me. Right now I have about 1500 followers, I know that’s not a ton but it still blows my mind!  I also have 11,000 followers on Pinterest which is even more mind-blowing!

What is your favorite food?

I have a massive sweet tooth or perhaps a whole mouthful of sweet teeth. Baked goods are my fav especially chocolate. I also love Italian food, if I had to pick one food to eat for the rest of my life it would be Italian.

What foods do you crave all the time?

Chocolate and sweets and pasta and bread, all the things that are bad for the waistline.

What is your favorite comfort food?

Ben and Jerry’s Everything But The ice cream.

If you could learn how to make any food what would it be?

I love learning about all the foods!  Just recently I’ve gotten into sourdough starters and that has been a blast.  I do wish I was a better pie maker.

What is your favorite thing about being a blogger, writer, or author?

I love getting feedback from people telling me that they’ve tried one of my recipes and loved it!  I also love connecting with people from all over.

What advice do you have for new writers just starting out?

Just dive in and go for it!  It gets easier the longer you do it.

What do you like to do for fun?

I love to read and bake and cook and go to the movies and also the beach.

What helps you to stay motivated and keep writing?

I love to play with food and love to try new recipes so that makes blogging pretty easy for me.  It’s not often that I don’t want to play with food.

How do you attract new readers?

I have no idea how to do that.  I just blog away and hope for the best.

What has influenced you the most as a writer?

Other bloggers and their great ideas.

What is your favorite genre to read?

Sci Fi and Fantasy

What are you reading right now?

The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead

What is something about yourself most people don’t know?

I’m a food blogger but I don’t make any money from my blog yet so my day job is in the film and television industry as a script supervisor.  I worked on a movie called “The Card Counter” written and directed by Paul Schrader and starring Oscar Isaac, Willem Dafoe, Tye Sheridan., and Tiffany Hadish when the coronavirus hit and we were shut down with only a week to go.  I’m hoping we can start back up soon and finish it because I think it’s going to be a really good movie.

What kind of music do you like to listen to?

80’s alternative like Depeche Mode, the Smiths, the Cure, Roxy Music, Echo and the Bunnymen, etc

Who are your top three favorite authors?

Dean Koontz, John Scalzi, Anne Tyler

Do you have any blogs or books you can recommend?

any by the above authors

What projects are you working on right now?

I’ve been diving into sourdough and trying all things sourdough with my starter. For example, waffles, pancakes, bread, biscuits, and I’ve also been trying all the Disney recipes that they’ve been releasing during this weird time of quarantining and social distancing.
